COMPLETE REMODELLING OF 1960s HOUSE
We had the luxury of a complete blank canvas with this remodelling project. The house, built in 1965, was stripped to the bare brick with all internal walls removed so the layout could be reconfigured to maximise space. The result includes a lovely spacious landing upstairs alongside two double bedrooms, a family bathroom and office room. Downstairs has a gorgeous lounge diner, with hidden steelwork allowing the ceiling line to run throughout without interruption. Great care was taken in creating a standout fireplace, fitting handmade bricks around the existing chimney stack, installing a concrete hearth and making the space ready for a new wood burner. A feature wall was then created at the other end of the living space mirroring the chimney breast. After completing this stunning focal point, we installed spot lighting to highlight the beautiful brick work. We also created a wooden lantern light, handcrafted from French oak, to help bring extra light into the kitchen. Porcelain flooring was fitted throughout the ground floor. Stripping back the property allowed us to ensure all utilities are easily accessible in one place – a luxury not usually on offer in older properties. |
